about
I’m a New York-based writer and editor who grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I do a few other things inconsistently and sporadically. This page is a comprehensive-ish collection of my work.
Long third-person bio
Emily Zhou’s debut story collection, Girlfriends, won the Publishing Triangle’s Leslie Feinberg Award and was a finalist for both the Ferro-Gumley Award in LGBTQ Literature and the Lambda Literary Award for Transgender Fiction. Her essays and short stories have appeared in Literary Hub, e-flux journal, Xtra, Club Curran, Picnic, Defector, and flinta.forum, and on her occasional newsletter Anecdata. A spirited advocate for trans literature and cultural production, she co-hosts the Figure It Out summer reading series, which showcases up-and-coming trans writers in New York City, and is an editor at LittlePuss Press and Joyland Magazine. She is currently at work on a novel.
